Actually, IBM has been known to add fields on to the end of existing data 
structures.  They just don't change the field sizes within a data 
structure (that I recall).  And this is why you should use the offsets 
provided in their api's instead of assuming an offset based on a data 
structure size.  I think this is why it was questioned if the poster does 
use a parameter for size of the data structure, etc.
