RE: %KDS

Unfortunately, built-in functions are not support in Factor 1, Factor 2 and
the Result field. Granted %KDS and %FIELDS are not strictly built-in
functions but more like Opcode Parameter Keywords, nonetheless they syntax
of RPG IV does not permit them to be used in fixed-format.

Is there any reason why the %KDS can only be used in a /FREE (free-form)
block?
Is this IBM's way of leading us gently down the path of free-form RPG?

Other BIFs seem to function happily in  fixed format code.

Is there something special about %KDS?
