I think it's one of those things that just needs to be tested to see if it is really that significant. Normally I'd agree with you. However after seeing a generic string routine to center text be set up to handle 32k byte strings run like a slug and add minutes on to processing time, I'm more willing to pay performance cautions at least some heed. I don't take them as absolutes, but I will test them to verify. And I've heard that division remark before. And one comment was to multiply if at all possible. That's why I suggested the 0.5.
