I have a AFPDS spool file with two barcodes

The overlapping may not be related to the barcodes per se.  If you are 
using a proportional font, the length of any given field will be 
variable!  In other words, we are accustomed to thinking of a 50 
character field as occupying 5 inches at 10 cpi.  In a proportional 
font, on average, it will only occupy 3.5 inches.  If I lay my bar code 
(or any other field or graphic) at 4.0 inches, on occasion, the 50 
character field will have enough wide characters to extend past that 4 
inch mark and over the field.
I understand you didn't define the fields to overlap, but this is a 
common occurrence for me.  I thought it might be a possibility in your 
case, too.
