This is not the case...I use OVRDBF via QCMDEXC in RPG all the
time...only fails if I mess up my syntax...my fingers are dyslexic
sometimes ;-)

I think, and I admit I haven't tested this, that executing OVRDBF using
QCMDEXC will not be at the same call level as the OPNQRYF command when
it is executed with QCMDEXC.  Therefore, when the program opens the
file, the effects of the OPNQRYF command will not be reflected in the
records read by the program.

As I haven't used OPNQRYF in many moons and never using QCMDEXC from an
RPG program, I don't know for certain.
