I found out that the other errors were related to fields not being
included in the subfile (the first time around they were not needed).

After I included them with the subfile (as hidden fields), it worked
like a charm.

It'll read whatever record number you ask for.  Starting at the last

sounds odd.  Might indicate the chain failed and left you with the
previous
record.  Do you actually have a RRN=1 in your subfile?
