Too much work!  QCMDEXC is not that finicky!!  It handles white space very 
well indeed!!

I've always used an 80-character variable to hold my command, and stuff 
the length with 80 like so:

0280.00      C                   CALL      'QCMDEXC'  
0281.00      C                   PARM                    SFTCMD  
0282.00      C                   PARM      80            CMDLEN 15 5 

OK, I'll be honest, sometimes I need more than 80 characters, but the old 
80-column cards had a lot going for them...
