When used in the main program it is working fine when I call it with a
parameter.

But it is giving "Pointer or Parameter error" when called without any
parameter.

You have to make sure that you do not reference Param1 unless it's passed. Search through your code to find anywhere that you use Param1, and change it so that it's only referenced if %parms >= 1.

Many people choose to simplify this by moving the value to a work variable if it's passed, and then use the work variable throughout the program. That way, you only need check %parms once.

If this doesn't help, then please post the exact line of code where the pointer error is occurring.
