I've got three files with the same name but in different libraries. I could do that for the first one but I would have to do something for the other two so that the program could distinguish between them. You are doing override in the program so it should not be a problem at run time. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, September 02, 2005 12:39 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: Override in H-Spec? I like the EXTFILE keyword that you and Charles suggested. It doesn't address the comple issue (how come?) but it would work for runtime plus it's semi-self-documenting. They can put a man on the moon but they still can't pre-define file overrides for the RPG compiler. If the three files given are always in these three libraries, try: FCKDESCMS1 IF E K DISK Rename(DESCMSFM:DESCMSFM1) Prefix(S1) F ExtFile('CLOCFILE01/CKDESCMS') F UsrOpn FCKDESCMS2 IF E K DISK Rename(DESCMSFM:DESCMSFM2) Prefix(S2) F ExtFile('CLOCFILE02/CKDESCMS') F UsrOpn FCKDESCMS3 IF E K DISK Rename(DESCMSFM:DESCMSFM3) Prefix(S3) F ExtFile('CLOCFILE03/CKDESCMS') F UsrOpn You would still have to OVRDBF to compile (or create empty copies in a work library), but once compiled, the files should be found okay.
