× The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

Eric,
        Would tokenizing the string make it easier to check?

You could parse out on blanks and check each token for invalid characters.
Not much else to do, since you do not have a database of contact information
to verify against.
