Rob, I don't usually use DOU but IIRC the ITER should take you to the DOU and execute the read in your %STATUS BIF. If it's not executing it why not move the read out of the BIF onto the line immediately under the DOU? It would be the first statement executed after the ITER and accomplish the same thing.
