Hello!

i am having a problem getting a simple sql command which works fine from STRSQL
to work when i embed it in RPG!!

Here's the statement:

--------------------------------------------------------

 Select distinct * from
 LEVNTN0P where ENEVRF in
 (Select E1EVRF from LEVNAC1L)

--------------------------------------------------------

it seems to fall over because LEVNAC1L is not defined as a file...

BUT i really don't want to have to include it with the file definition because
i'm selecting * and my FETCH statement goes INTO the file described data
structure... (one solution would be to move the subselect to the FROM list)
and list each individiual field name in the SELECT statement... but this is far
from ideal.

This is for a display subfile program where the user has the option to select
different sorts and selects and i soft generate a new sql depending on their
choices. This is (so far) the only request which necessitates a subselect.

can anyone offer any suggestions?

thanks in advance,
max
