I do brute force comparisons against the original values. I use an array but hidden fields in the subfile will do the same thing. I'm too lazy to skip the unchanged records so I loop through them all. <g> I find it easier to understand. Bigger hardware than people could imagine (almost) in the 80s makes squeezing the last drop of performance out of interactive programs not as important as it once was. Almost anything other than heavy database access happens "instantly." BTW, I'd probably do somethig different if there were more than three or four input capable fields in a subfile record. <><><>-----Original Message----- <><><>From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx <><><>[mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Scott Klement <><><>Sent: Friday, August 12, 2005 2:53 PM <><><>To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <><><>Subject: RE: Force EOF in a Subfile <><><> <><><>> I'm not an expert, but my personal opinion is that <><><>READC and its <><><>> associated keywords are somwhere between an abomination <><><>and a crime <><><>> against nature. <><><> <><><>That's a little strong :) <><><> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Big Snip <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< ***************************** NOTICE: All e-mail sent to or from this e-mail address will be received or otherwise recorded by The Sharper Image corporate e-mail system and is subject to archival, monitoring, and review by and/or disclosure to Sharper Image security and other management.
