You could always use EVAL so that when EVALR was introduced it would be
consistent.
But then again, I would think that NOT using EVAL and then using EVALR would
make it more clear and avoid oversight.
I mean:

  Eval  myData='%char(sf2type)
  EvalR myData='%char(sf2type)
VS.
  myData='%char(sf2type)
  EvalR myData='%char(sf2type)
