Instead of using triggers, which may cause extra overhead when writing to
the transaction files, you could journal the files and set up a batch job
to receive the journal entries and then write the journal information to a
log file.
just a thought...

I would be pleased to know if any one has any examples and/or advice on
how the use Triggers to log updates to a a stats file each time there is
a record written to a number of transaction files. Is this even a viable
approach ? What are the pitfalls ?
