You can avoid using *INLR....by explicitly closing all files/ODPs etc THEN using return....

That doesn't do the same thing as *INLR

*INLR causes a bunch of things to be done the next time your program is called. This includes opening the files, but it also includes re-initializing the variables, re-running *INZSR, etc.


But I'd rather use one line of code *INLR=*On instead of

/free
  close file1;
  close file2;
  close file3;
  return;
/end-free

How about:

  /free
     close *all;
     return;
  /end-free

Granted, it still doesn't do the same thing as *INLR, but at least you don't have to list 100 different file closings. :)
