Sure, providing that the fetch is done from a single file or an updatable view.

You need to define the cursor as being SELECT <...> FOR UPDATE <...>

The update clause is
UPDATE myfile
set field1 = '01'
WHERE CURRENT OF :myCusor


However, having said that.  Have you considered journaling or a trigger?

Journaling in particular is designed to provide the audit report you are 
looking for.
