Pete,

To get a little different perspective of programming with subfiles other 
than the one vendor you use and what few developers (if any) your shop may 
have; I'd suggest a book about programming with subfiles.  There's a few 
at

What the heck the money helps support this website and perhaps helps feed 
some hungry RPG programmer who wrote the book.  It's not like John Grisham 
will miss one person reading one of his books that night.  No personal 
references on any of the titles available at the site.  I think some of 
them may even be on a 'fire sale'.  However that may mean that the sale 
version uses RPGIII techniques and a newer one using the latest RPGLE is 
available.
