Ben, Chain to QADBXREF file which is keyed on Library and File. One of the fields has this info in the form of "D" or "S" code. This file has variable length and null fields so you need to use H specs to allow use of the file. If the file has *EXCLUDE authority, then create a LF with *USE. You might find this approach easier to use than API's. Don Tully Tully Consulting LLC ********************************************** I need to be able to determine if a physical file is a data or source physical file in RPG IV. I thought the QUSROBJD API could be used for this, but I don't see how. The attribute returned is always "PF" regardless. Any ideas? Ben Pforsich Programmer Analyst Bob Evans Farms, Inc.
