I've used equal, quote (='0123') to force the field to be text for item numbers.

numbers to scientific format?  I am opening some tab delimited text files
that contain UPC numbers.  Excel automatically converts them to scientific
format.  If I don't reformat the column and continue to save the file, the
real digits will be lost.
