What release are you running?  I thought this was going to be fixed in V5R2
but maybe it didn't happen.

There are a few op-codes (and of course BIFs) where only simple qualified
names work i.e. names of the type DSName.FieldName.  This is all documented
somewhere in the depths of the manual, but I don't know where I'm afraid.

Have you tried using it as the value for a named constant?  That is how I
have been able to get round some other similar limitations.
