Douglas, At our shop we generally keep our work files exist in a data library for compile purposes. When we need one, we attempt to create a duplicate in QTEMP, if it already exists we clear it. We also override to the file in QTEMP to ensure that is the file we actually use. As for deleting the file, QTEMP goes away once the job ends so you don't need to delete it yourself unless it is taking up room you need and won't be used any longer within the job. Palme Sent: Tuesday, May 17, 2005 10:42 AM To: RPG Group Subject: work files in qtemp I have been working on a program that will reuqire me to use some sort of temporary hold file, a friend suggested that I use a work file in qtemp for the processing of the data...however, I have never used work files before, let alone in qtemp. Should I just create the file in my library and then copy it to the qtemp directory and then process the data deleting the file once I am done? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
