Ok, inorder...

1) needs to be (note: wmname LIKE :pname )
    c/exec sql 
    c+ declare maincursor cursor for select * from wmmstr where 
    c+ wmname like :pname order by wmname 
    c/end-exec 

2) to use LIKE the way you want, you need pname to contain '%CANADIAN%'

3) if pname is a varible length field, then '%CANADIAN%' from above will work.  
Otherwise, you'd need to use '%CANADIAN%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%'
