Thanks! That is what I suspected it was doing but just didn't know for sure. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joel Fritz Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2005 3:56 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Eval with two equals? It would have been clearer with parens. This is why some languages have an assignment operator and an equality comparison operator e.g. "=" and "==". It's easy to mistake this for multiple assignment, but it's not. An equivalent way would be: if detsty = '1'; *inu1 = *on; endif; All comparisons evaluate to *on or *off ('1' or '0'). You can assign the value returned by a comparison to another variable. > -----Original Message----- > From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jeff L.
