To answer your question, I want to use the alarm() api in my application, and indeed it does generate a signal when the alarm goes off. As a test, I coded up the call to alarm, and was able to set an alarm just fine. However, when the alarm went off, the default action of the signal caused the job to terminate. I want to change the default action (via sigaction) to call a procedure in my rpg program, rather than terminating the job. I've fiddled around with calling sigaction, but have not been able to change the default action. I probably haven't set up the prototype correctly, or perhaps I'm calling it incorrectly.
