I use free format exclusively.  And you know what?  I actually think
the D- and F- specs should be in fixed format.  I see advantages in
declaring stuff this way.  It makes it easier, at a glance, to know
what you are looking at in terms of variables.  Do you think the D-
and F- specs should be free-format?  What advantage would this
provide?
