The problem is UDATE doesn't return a date data type. Use %date() for the current system date. Additionally, note that UDATE returns the job date, not the system date. You probably want the system date, so use the %date() above. If you really want the job's date, which never changes even when the job runs after midnight, use %date(UDATE:*MDY).
