Don't keep the title "RPG400-L Digest, Vol 4,, Issue XXX". That makes it easier for other people to weed out topics that they're not interested in, and it makes it easier for people who are searching the mailing list archives to find messages that have to do with whatever they're searching for. b) Don't quote back the entire archive message. Instead, delete anything from the reply that doesn't pertain to what you're replying to. That way, people who receive the digest won't get the whole thing quoted back to them, and searches of the web archives won't result in viewing an entire day's worth of messages as one. For example, in your recent reply message, you could hae quoted it as follows: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ron: Thanks, but as I stated, the indicator is not used in the DltRec format, only in the control record for the subfile. Matt > If *IN33 is on the DLTREC format then the clear is what's doing it. If > you clear the format, the indicator gets cleared too I'm pretty certain, > setting it to it's default state which is *OFF. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In addition to the technical reasons for following those two rules of thumb, there's also the political reason: To get good responses on a mailing list, people have to WANT to help you. If they're frustrated by the way you post the messages, they're less likely to want to help you. I say this not to complain, but to give you some friendly tips that I hope will help you get the most out of RPG400-L.
