Wasn't the original problem posed that it had to be done on a two-dimensional
surface, which space (curved or otherwise) isnt?

The only solution I've ever seen for this that works is to draw the dots on an
inflated inner tube for a wheel and that way the lines can go under as well as
over. Unfortunately that doesn't fit the 2D requirement either...

However, getting back to the original thread (and keeping within list
guidelines) of whether or not DOU is better than DOW, I was always taught that
it depended on the loop you were trying to achieve.

As a DOU has the test at the end of the loop, then there will always be one
iteration of the loop regardless of the value of whether the testing condition
is met or not at the start of the loop. The DOW, on the other hand, performs
the test at the beginning of the loop and if the conditions are not met then no
iterations will be performed.

Surely as professional programmers we should be using the correct form of DO
loop for the situation at hand and understanding the correct use of the various
DO loops should mean that readability of a program is not adversely affected.
It's only my opinion, but I would find it harder to follow a program where the
programmer has forced a DOU to act like a DOW (or vice versa) just because it's
their preference.

Best regards

Jonathan
