In relation to this, ICQ has an email address associated to your account so that you can "email an IM" to a user. For instance (I know I will regret this) my ICQ email is "4426158@xxxxxxxxxxxxx". You can send an email then I will get a message. IIRC, I can't reply, but in this case it doesn't sound like you want/need that functionality.
