Steve, >From my experience with tape cartridges, the write protect "tab" us usually pretty "firm, i.e. not that easy to move. Some even seem to "click" into place. Have you checked these tapes and does that tab seem to be easy to move ? That's a rhetorical question by the way, no need to answer that bit. :-) This is concerning the wonderful 3570 tape units. We keep getting problems in that the write protect tab on the tapes is up so the back ups do not take place. Now a few weeks ago this happened three times in a row so now I am extra careful about checking them before I load the tapes, yesterday I am POSITIVE I checked this, yet last night the backups failed because the write protect was set. It is due to vibration? Something in the unit that snags it? Has anyone else come across this or is there a malicious poltergeist in my computer room? Steve
