RE: record lock logic for input primary file

not going to be pretty.  

Another way that I can think of is to change the input primary to input only 
and then chain(e) back.  pretty crappy also.  Just want to make sure there is 
not any other easier way to do it.

I suspect you're not going to like this answer...  Use a *PSSR and
trap the error there.
