I'm not "Barb" - but then neither is "Barbara" <grin>

There is nothing specific about DSPPFM - but the database does always
surface date fields in their expanded form.  To the best of my knowledge,
you can only "see" the 4 byte version in a storage dump.

You don't mention it in your ? - but the exact same thing applies to varying
length fields.  You can only "see" them in the expanded form.
