Frank, IIRC, Ted Holt wrote an article in Midrange Computing magazine (accessable at www.mcpressonline.com). The programmes were similar to stored procedures. It could only be done in C, and therefore required the C-compiler. It had some sample code, but I doubt that this is the way you want to go. Perhaps the Domino list may help.
