You cannot use a field in a DS as an input parm.

Reason is pretty simple - a parameter is passed as a pointer to the memory
location of the parm. By definition a DS is a contiguous piece of memory.
There is no way that the "middle" of that single piece of memory could be
redirected to the location in the calling program.
