Hi Rory,

Apart from having to reclaim an activation group or defining a "mode"
procedure parameter, does anybody know a good way to re-initialise a static
procedure variable?

<Rory wrote>
Call simpleProc() passing a special optional parameter which
simpleProc() checks and uses to reinitialize itself.

I would consider the use of a special optional parameter as a perfect
example of the use of a "mode" procedure parameter. That is, an optional
parameter that instructs the procedure to run in some "other" mode. I was
trying to avoid this.
Cheers
