Douglas; As far back as V3R6 you can initialize any date, time, or timestamp data type with the TIME opcode: Dmydate S D C Time today There are "better/newer" initilization capabilities depending on which version of OS/400 you are on. You do not need to specify a datfmt in the rpg program, in the display file you do. SDA does not understand placing date/time data types, so I place a 10A field where I want my date to show up and then edit the display file source an modify the 10A field like this: A TODAY L O 2 73DATFMT(*USA) You can do the same with Time and Timestamp fields also. This needs to display in *USA format. Here is what I did: * first declare standalone Dmydate s D datfmt(*usa) in the C specs I had the following eval mydate = *date move mydate ddate I keep getting an error that the two sides of the eval do not match....suggestions? -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
