There is no difference between them, but my mental model is pre-programmed that when I see "Select" I am picking a choice from a simple "list" - So I tend to use Select when a single condition/field is being checked for multiple possibilities. e.g What function key was used; what is the product type, etc. I use IF/ELSEIF when the conditions/fields are different on each test.
