Thanks Rick,
I am not sure how to do this for what I am looking for. I want to write
to a text file from message file to an IFS and from text file back to
message file on AS/400 (with new messages). So at some point I need to
do this addmsgd. Please let me know how you mean override. I would
like to know if there is another better way to do this.
Thanks,
Sudha

Yes. I can't think of an API from memory to add messages but even if
there isn't one you can always use the ADDMSGD command.

I'm not sure why you are wanting to do this though. Why not just
override the message file at run time?

Rick

Subject: Message file from and to IFS

Hi all,
I am trying to externalize message file messages. I would like to know
if I could add a message into a message file though a program.
Actually, I want to pull in all the existing messages from the file
write it to an IFS file and I think I can use QMHRTVM for this and then
open a text file and write the details. Can I now do the reverse as
well? I have to do this so that the text file can be loaded into other
software. The other software can also add their messages that I want to
load back to message file on AS/400.
Thanks for all your help,
Sudha
