How do I do that without extracting the value first?  That's where it blows:

cell = HSSFRow_getCell(row: 2);

Maybe HSSFRow_getCellType?  And look for value CELL_BLANK?  The
HSSFSheet_getRow didn't get an error, and I believe the entire row was null.
