RE: Is this possible and if so

thanks to everyone for your tips, suggestions, etc.  I am going to do some 
playing with this and will let you know what I end up with.

For whatever it is worth, I have participated on several C++ lists and I 
have to say that the feedback and responses on this one is so much better, 
more information, more helpful suggestions, etc.
