Can be done with easy using HTTPAPI. We have similar interfaces created to check authorization of users or verify responses to different types of webservices on all kind of different types of boxes. In fact it is not funny anymore because it really is not difficult. Don't worry about the to be used XML. The XML used is mostly as fixed as hell and only your little variables are variable (Remember XML is just plain text) so no difficult parsers and other performance killers needed just some common sense and a few string actions suffice. Some banks, and some 3rd party ISVs offer web services that can be used to send a credit card number and validate it over the Internet. (Using SSL security.) This is very common for Web sites that have shopping cart systems, they'll check the credit card while the customer waits and make sure that it's valid. It would be possible to do the same thing in RPG. Make a connection to the web service, send the credit card (probably as an XML document) and receive back the authorization number. I'm pretty sure that some people have done this with my HTTPAPI open-source service program. (Though, I haven't done it personally -- I've just been told that it's been done.) If you're interested, you might want to check out my web site for HTTPAPI: http://www.scottklement.com/httpapi/ There aren't any credit card examples, but perhaps after doing some research on what's available in this area, and after looking at some of the non-credit card examples that I demonstrate, things will click for you. I'd certainly prefer this over a dial-up system!! -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
