BTW, thanks to all who have thus far replied. I agree that understanding the process behind the numbers is important. But some systems aren't as well documented as others and when one is in a time-crunch situation... It's usually during the month-end process, and they're trying to close the books. It's 4pm Friday, and that's not the time I typically look forward to having an emergency on my hands. A tool like I'm describing would do one of two or three things. If it finds a solution, it makes it much easier to track down the missing data and guide me to the logic where it failed to be "selected". If it doesn't find a solution, then I know I'm not (necessarily?) dealing with missing amounts, but perhaps a transposition of some sort. So, the tool may not be the end-all, be-all solution, but it seems to me that it could be a big time-saver. Besides, the exercise seems to be a challenge. <g> Joe & I think alike in this regard. db
