Re: Buffer reserved for unused fields?

To check wether such a field allocates memory space or not, choose one of
them as an example from your compilation list, execute your program in debug
mode with at least one breakpoint and try an EVAL operation upon the chosen
field.

I'm afraid memory space is allocated whenever the field is used or not.
