Bob,

If the file is a fixed format file, you can use CPYFRMIMPF to populate a
regular physical file. You can also use the IFS API's to read the text file
directly. If you search the archives, I'm sure you'll find plenty of examples
of both.

Subject: Pulling folder file into RPG program

We need to have a text file in a folder on the AS/400 pulled into a RPG
program. This file is created by UPS from their Worldship software. All it
will have is an order number and their tracking number. Can logical files
be created over a folder file? Will I need to use OVRDBF? Or is there some
other way to get the data into the RPG program? Thanks for any help.
