I believe,
EBCDIC is Extended Binary Coded Decimal
EDCBIC is a spelling mistake.

I use
 CALL 'QDCXLATE'
 PARM LENIN 5,0
 PARM DATA 32767 (max)
 PARM SBCS

optional
 PARM SBCSLIB

Parm SBCS carries a table name, I use

QASCII *TBL QSYS EBCDIC TO ASCII TRANSLATE TABLE
QEBCDIC *TBL QSYS ASCII TO EBCDIC TRANSLATE TABLE

I believe a c function iconv() will also do the job.
Check the archives maybe someone has posted how to use this.
I have problems with iconv(). Perhaps someone can post a
prototyped procedure to invoke icon() as a function call.

QDCXLATE can also handle DBCS, only Korean Japanese
Taiwan & Chinese (both types)but you need more parms,
if you need I can be more specific.

Frank Kolmann
