Making part of a field input capable -- RPG400-L

Is there a way to make part of a field on a screen input capable and the
other part protected?

I have a subfile program that I want to interleave different record
formats. I can do this easily by defining the subfile as having a single
long record and placing the data there broken up into the parts. Now I need
to make some of the data fields input capable.
