1) I would argue against storing this static information in the database. Wherever you use it should put it on first. Why waste the disk space, or cause yourself the headache you are getting now? 2) How's about edit checking the field to make sure it is on there? 3) Strip it off prior to displaying, and paste it back on after exiting the display? 4) There might even be a Scott Klement api that will verify that the entry is correct Rob Berendt -- Group Dekko Services, LLC Dept 01.073 PO Box 2000 Dock 108 6928N 400E Kendallville, IN 46755 http://www.dekko.com Hans.Meeuws@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 04/28/2004 02:38 AM Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx cc Subject URL hotspot Is there a way to protect a part of a input-field ?? In our address file we have a e-mail address and a webpage address field. This has to be entered by the users. The problem is that they often forget to put 'HTTP://" or "MAILTO:" in front. If I could protect these prefixes in the field this should be solved. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
