Assuming I'm understanding your question correctly, you want the CASE
expression.....


select field1,
   case field2
     when 0 then field3
     else field4
   end
from myfile
where 
   (case 
     when field5 = 'Something' then NULL
     else field6
    end) > 15
 and field7 = 5


Note: if you happen to be look for an "If column = NULL" then instead of
CASE you can use the IFNULL or COALESCE functions.
