What do you mean by the record buffer? When RPG reads a record, it reads it into
a buffer, which you as a programmer don't have access to. When the time comes,
RPG fills your program variables with the corresponding data from the buffer.
For random access that happens immediately, but with primary and secondary files
it is all handled by the cycle.
